Stephen Hale

Stephen brings more than 15 years of commercial construction experience to Heartpine. His background includes field operations, project management, and senior leadership roles on projects throughout Central Texas, East Texas, and the Dallas–Fort Worth area.

He began his career in the field and later managed project teams, budgets, schedules, and client relationships. That path gave him a practical view of how construction decisions are made and how challenges develop on active projects.

His experience as a contractor informs how Heartpine approaches budgets, schedules, project teams, and the practical decisions owners face throughout construction.

Stephen founded Heartpine to bring that experience directly to owners and tenants who need an experienced perspective without having to hire for in-house construction support.

Raised in East Texas and based in Austin since 2017, he enjoys spending time with his family, getting outdoors, and taking on hands-on building and fabrication projects.

The name

Why Heartpine?

Heart pine is the dense, resin-rich heartwood of longleaf pine, the timber that once covered much of the Southeast, including the Piney Woods of East Texas. Builders prized it for courthouses, mills, and homes meant to last, and reclaimed heart pine from old buildings is still sought out today.

The name is a nod to where Stephen grew up and to the kind of work he admires: made with care and meant to last. It's the standard he aims for in his own work.
